I’m early this week, Nadas Nation. Hope your Monday has been a good one and that your weekend was everything you hoped it would be. I took advantage of having Friday night off and went to see some live music. Then I put my new neighbors to the test by hanging out on my patio until about 4AM with some of the best people I know. My neighbors passed the test, for your information; and I am quite happy about that. I’ll try not to take advantage of them, though.
And on Saturday night we played to a great crowd at My Waterloo Days. Thanks to everyone who came out. It was a perfect night for an outdoor show and we had a lot of fun. Thanks also to the good people at The Hub in Cedar Falls who treated us so well after Waterloo Days ended for the night. Mark your calendars, kids, we’re back at The Hub on July 10.
But we’ve got a lot going on before then, don’t worry. Or do worry, I guess, if that’s what floats your boat. I don’t want to get too bossy here. I just want you to know that there are plenty of opportunities for fun before then. Okay, so here’s what we’ve got coming up:
Friday, June 6 - ALIVE Concert Series at Simon Estes Amphitheater in Des Moines (rain location: People’s Court). We’re kicking off the Summer season on the river. This is always a good time. The fun starts at 7:00PM and the last forecast I saw looked great - temps in the 60s and just a few clouds in the sky. Jason Reeves is opening up the show. So come on down. Tickets are $15 in advance (www.iowatix.com) or $20 at the gate.
Saturday, June 7 - TEMPLETON RYE DISTILLERY. That’s right, the TR Distillery is having its First Annual OPen House Concert and we’ll be playing outside after everyone’s had their chance to tour and taste. We’ve been looking forward to this for quite some time. Tickets are only $10 at www.iowatix.com. The City of Templeton has even said they’ll allow camping in the park. Pretty cool. Not cool enough yet? Okay, here you go, for only $35 you get a wonderful chartered bus ride from AK’s in West Des Moines to Templeton and back to Des Moines PLUS admission to the concert AND the distillery open house tour. And here’s the big bonus . . . Are you ready? Mike Butterworth will be your bus chaperon for the bus ride. How cool is that? I’ll miss having him on the TR bus; but I guess we have to share him from time to time. So hurry and sign up for the bus package today at Authentic Records Online. Space is running out and Mike will be so happy to have you all along.
Next week, Jason and Mike will be doing three duo shows out east - June 10 in Philadelphia at World Cafe, June 11 in DC at the Kennedy Center, and June 12 in New York at The Living Number. Come check out the shows and say “hi.” Check the web site and myspace for more details.
Okay, things are getting crazy around here so I suppose I had better get going. I do need to say, though, that your wedding crashing stories were hilarious. I laughed so hard that milk shot out of my nose. You crazy kids.
Love and Summer Nights,
Dr Tyler & The Nadas
