Hello, Nadas Nation. It’s a cool, rainy afternoon here in Beaverdale. But it beats 30 and snow, so I’ll take it. It is hard to complain, the weather has been pretty good during our time off the last couple of weeks. I’ve managed to spend just about every night on the patio, firing up the grill, and entertaining friends. It has been a lot of fun; and so far there have been no complaints from the neighbors.
Tonight I will be heading down to the big Iowa ONE Vote 08 Summer Kick-Off Event at the 4th Street Theatre in Des Moines (it’s right next door to Java Joe’s). It kicks off with an open gallery reception at 6:30PM and then at 7:30PM Mike and Jason will be playing a duo show. The Nadas are proud to be part of the ONE campaign. To learn more, head to www.one.org.
Before that, Mike and Jason will be playing the kick-off event for Do More in the City, an event put on by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Do More in the City is a series of events throughout the Summer for all of the cool summer interns who work their butts off in this great city. So if you are an intern, know an intern, your company has interns, you should check it all out. Tonight’s event is from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Mike and Jason will play early so they can head to the ONE event. For more information on Do More, go to www.desmoinesmetro.com.
A lot of you have signed up for the bus to the big party in Templeton on Saturday, June 7. And why wouldn’t you? It’s $35 for a chartered bus directly to the distillery where you can sample some of the Good Stuff, then head outside to the beer garden and catch The Tyler Thompson Band and The Nadas. Think about how much it costs to fill up your car and add $10 for the ticket price of the show. What are we looking at? $55? $60? $75? $100? It’s crazy. And this way you can enjoy all the TR you want and not have to worry about driving back to Des Moines. Safety first, kids. “Be sure to put on your protective eyewear.” Thanks, Norm Abram. So yes, sign up now by heading to Authentic Records Online. Or if you don’t want to take the bus option, head to www.iowatix.com to purchase tickets. They’re only $10 and the city is allowing camping in the city park and has space available for RV parking if you want to really make a weekend of it. Thanks again to the good people at
Templeton Rye and the Templeton Community Betterment Association for helping make this show possible.
And tickets are now on sale for our ALIVE show at Simon Estes Amphitheater on Friday, June 6. We’ll be kicking off the ALIVE Series once again and we are looking forward to it. I love the outdoor concert season. And playing by the river is pretty cool. Tickets are on sale at www.iowatix.com. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.
But you don’t have to wait two weeks to see the boys in action. This Saturday, May 31 we will be playing in Lincoln Park to help celebrate My Waterloo Days. Hopefully you can all make it out. It looks like several days of good entertainment, so go more than once. It’s a free show in the park, and I hear there will be some great food available. See you there.
Okay, that’s about all I have. Sign up for those bus tickets today! And if you feel like chatting with us, head over to www.thenadas.com. And thanks to the record number of people who responded to last week’s QOTW. I tried to respond to everyone but it will still take a few days. There is a lot of new technology that scares us. It’s all quite interesting.
Love and Rainy Nights,
Dr Tyler & The Nadas
QOTW: Hey, it’s wedding season. Have you crashed a wedding? Been at a wedding that was crashed? Tell us all about it. Or, tell us a good juicy wedding story.

Hey, I will be in town for all these festivities. This blog has got me all fired up. I need to start training…part-time roadie/groupie is a tough gig.
