The Nadas, Mad Men, and the UP

Happy Thursday, Nadas Nation! I’m sorry about the delay in this week’s email but it’s been so long since I’ve written one that it almost slipped by me. Thanks to Jason and LB for writing some excellent and entertaining Blah Blahs during my absence. I went and got married and then decided a trip to Michigan’s beautiful UP was in order. Wow. Have you ever been there? It’s amazing. The colors are unreal, the lakes are huge (some might say, “great”), and the people are friendly.

But now I’m back; and in between catching up on missed episodes of Mad Men, I thought that I would update you on our favorite boys, The Nadas. Did someone say “Mad Men?” I know right. It’s awesome. I love that show. It’s solidified my desire to turn my life over to suits and rye. Okay, so maybe my commitment to rye was already pretty solid; but now I’m adding suits to the mix. In coming weeks, when you stop by the office, you’ll think you’re stepping into Don Draper’s lair. Perhaps we’ll get a receptionist. Hmm. There’s a lot to be done on this. We need to completely redecorate the office now. Okay, change of subject before I get in too deep.

Where was I? What are we doing here? What is it you need to know?

The Nadas head to Denver’s Gothic Theatre

Now I remember. I need to tell you where you can see The Nadas this week.

Friday, October 17 at The Gothic Theatre in Denver. Doors open at 8pm. And a special bonus for all of you - Dick Prall is opening. I’m serious. If you live in the Denver area and don’t go to this show, I’d better not find out.

Also, technically the Gothic is in Englewood, CO, but I use Denver to give everyone a clearer picture. I hope that’s cool with everyone.

I was with the boys the last time they played The Gothic. This place is stunning. I recommend getting there early and checking out the architecture. I seem to recall some good food in the area, too. Anyone else remember that?

So Denver is it for this week. But next week, October 23 and 24, Mike and Jason will be in New York City making salsa - get a rope. What? No, they’ll be in NYC for a couple of cool duo shows. They’re also on a panel at CMJ. How cool is that? Say it. “It’s pretty cool, DRT.” Good. A

After NYC, the bedazzled duo will reunite with the rest of the nothings for a show at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen on Oct. 25. Chicago’s a cool place. They like hot dogs there.

Apple Pie, Baseball, Three-piece Suits, & QOTW

Apple pie is delicious. Baseball is a great game. My heart goes out to any Dodgers fans. I think my next purchase will be a grey, three-piece suit. Sound good? I’m a 44R if anyone wants to send me a nice suit. I did just get married. Maybe a gift would be nice? Maybe make it easier for you to get on the guest list for Nadas shows? Again, that’s a 44R.

I’m not too sure about this Blah Blah. I hope it works for you. I’m a bit rusty and, as I said, I was impressed with Jason and LB. I thought they’d want to continue building upon their strong foundations. But it appears as though you are stuck with my musings and ramblings for now. It’s good to be back. I hope to see you all at a show very soon.Be as good as you want.

Love & Lapels,
Dr Tyler & The Nadas

QOTW: Who’s your favorite Mad Men character? If you have yet to see Mad Men: Where is Jon Locker?

Had the pleasure of seeing the show at the Gothic last night - first Nadas show I’ve seen. The guys put on a great show - perhaps the shotski helped loosen them up?
