Hello, Nadas Nation, as Dr. Uetz so eloquently calls you. Once again, the Blah Blah has been placed in the hands of someone else as the good doctor enjoys his honeymoon. So, who’s writing this nonsense? That would be Lindsey. Most of you probably know me as the Nadas merch girl. Some of you might know me as LB. Others may know me as the voice on the other end of the telephone line at Authentic Records (unless it’s a man). All are correct. How did I get the duty of writing this week’s Blah Blah? I’m not entirely sure. Jason’s in Templeton, IA doing manual labor for Templeton Rye, Mike’s handling 30 conference calls at once, Jon’s busy at the Sonic Factory recording studio making another groundbreaking record, and, as already mentioned, Dr. Uetz is camping somewhere in the wilderness with his new bride. That leaves little ol’ me, so be gentle. I’m new at this.

FREE NADAS MUSIC!

…and as a little incentive for you to be kind towards my first attempt at the Blah Blah, I’ll give you a free, unreleased track of The Nadas. Crazy! I know! See, you’re already warming up to me. The track is part of an ongoing series of free downloads that Authentic Records—the glorious record label Mike and Jason started together—offers every week, also known as the Weekly Ear Snack. This week we’re showcasing “Play Like A Girl,” a track written and recorded to accompany an Iowa Public Television documentary on the history of women’s basketball in Iowa called “More Than A Game: 6 on 6 Basketball in Iowa.” Other than its use in the documentary, “Play Like A Girl,” has never been available for purchase or download before, so have at it!

UPCOMING SHOWS
For the month of October, the Nadas are going to be a little bit of everywhere, so keep your eyes peeled on their tour schedule, but let’s focus on the here and now, cool?
The guys will be heading to Clear Lake tomorrow to play at one of their favorite venues, the Surf Ballroom. If you’ve never experienced a show there, you’re definitely missing out. So, gather a few friends (or an entire crew) and make a road trip up to Northern, IA. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.iowatix.com.
Saturday, October 11 the guys will return to our good old stomping grounds, People’s Court in downtown Des Moines. Like the Surf Ballroom, if you’ve never been to a show here, you’re definitely missing out. If you’ve never been to a Nadas show at People’s before, well, that’s understandable. The past three shows they’ve played there they’ve had to turn people away at the door the night of the show. The lesson to be learned: GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY. You can purchase them at www.iowatix.com. Seriously. I’m going to stress that point again: GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY. Ok, no more caps lock. I promise.

HELLO AND GOODBYE
Well, that does it. I believe I’m through with my duties of informing The Nadas’ loyal fans of their whereabouts and happenings. That said, although I feel like we just met, I have to say goodbye. Really. I’m moving to Seattle, WA come the end of the month. I know, I know. I’m not quite sure how the guys are going to handle themselves either…I mean, what? But no worries, I plan on upholding my duties for Authentic Records (did I mention I’m the label’s graphic designer?) and, as instructed by Jason, extend our small, but mighty label to the music scene of Seattle. So, Nadas fans, if any of you reside in the Seattle area, we’ll be neighbors soon! Hooray! But, needless to say, Des Moines will be greatly missed. I’ll be sure to plan plenty of visits.
Love and cardboard boxes,
The Nadas & LB
QOTW: Who’s your favorite artist, besides The Nadas, under Authentic Records? (If you’re not familiar with any other Authentic Records artists, get on it! You’re missing out on some great music. No lie. Check out our other 13 artists here.)

QOTW: Hmm…that’s a hard one….does a mother pick a favorite son? Is it Josh Davis….or Benjamin Wagner….or….or…or…..
Might as well have the question be…What’s your favorite Nadas song, or something equally as hard.

My favorite would have to be The Josh Davis band, especially their live shows. What a rockin good time, about as good as a Nadas show.

Other than The Nadas, I would say The Josh Davis band. They really are 4 wonderful guys and their shows are awesome. Lindsey, we will really miss you. I remember when you came to Sara’s 9th birthday party and I took you, Sara, Tessa & Danni bowling. I hope you will stop by to see us before you go or if you get back for the Holidays. I am glad Sara and you have been friends for so long and both work for Authentic together. You were a wonderful roomie for her too. I wish you all the best in Seattle.
