The Nadas Welcome Home Shawn Johnson
While they weren’t the only ones to participate in Shawn’s welcome home party at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines (there were nearly 10,000 people on hand), The Nadas were the official band of the party. So that’s pretty cool. We have some pictures that we will be posting as well as a YouTube video from the party. So keep checking back for more on that. But certainly we want to congratulate and thank both Shawn Johnson and Lolo Jones for representing our state with class and honor. We wish you both continued success.

The Nadas & Meatloaf: The Saga Continues
Some of you may have heard about our unfortunate bus breakdown in Johnston this weekend; Meatloaf’s accelerator decided to stop working as we crossed four lanes of traffic; we ended up blocking the four lanes of traffic for a while. On the upside, we got to witness Mike’s amazing traffic-control skills - and he didn’t even have a whistle or white gloves. I am shopping for some for him, though. The guys was out there waving his arms, putting up hands, pointing . . . He kept it all in order until the police arrived. The accelerator problem has been fixed but we’ve all come to the realization that perhaps Meatloaf is tiring of us. Maybe all of these years of touring are finally starting to catch up with the old Eagle. Maybe it would rather be tailgating at college football games, enjoying retirement with bbq and cocktails on a Saturday afternoon instead of barreling down America’s interstates. So we’re thinking the time may be near to put the old beauty up for sale. Anyone interested? Make us an offer. Maybe you have a cool van or Sprinter to offer for trade. All reasonable offers will be considered. Just email us at thenadas@thenadas.com for your chance to own a piece of American Rock n Roll history.

WHO TV13 to Feature The Nadas
This Thursday, August 28, WHO 13 in Des Moines will feature a special story about The Nadas on their 10PM newscast. The story was done by Andy Fales as part of his “Iowa Icons” series. Andy and his crew did extensive interviews and also filmed an entire night at the Iowa State Fair, so I’m sure it will be a great piece. Be sure to tune in Thursday night at 10 to catch the story. If you miss it, I am told you will be able to watch it on the TV13 website for a couple of weeks following the original airing.
————————————————————————–
Well since the bus is fixed, we can hit the road again. We have a busy schedule the next couple of weeks; hopefully we’ll see you at one of these fine shows.
- Saturday, August 30: Bridgeview Center in Ottumwa, IA with our good friends She Swings, She Sways.
- Sunday, August 31: The Chesterfield in Sioux City, IA.
- Tuesday, September 2: Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA.
- Wednesday, September 3: The Picador in Iowa City, IA.
- Thursday, September 4: The Hub in Cedar Falls, IA.
- Friday, September 5: Gazebo Park in Clarion, IA.
- Saturday, September 6: Marty’s, Luther College in Decorah, IA.
I’m worn out just writing about it. And just to be clear, our Waterloo show originally scheduled for this Friday, August 29, has been cancelled. Our sincerest apologies to everyone. The good news is we’re playing The Hub next week, so people in the area won’t have to wait months and months for another chance to see us. I haven’t heard why the show was cancelled so I can only think of one reason - locusts. Argh.

The Nadas Street Team and QOTW
I am sure that most of you are like me, you want to do everything you can to help the boys and make their lives a little easier as they travel the country entertaining the crowds. It’s a little harder for me to accomplish these days - stuck up here on Mt. Fuji with little hope of returning to the good ol’ USA anytime soon. So I’m looking for a some help these days. If you think you’d like to help by being part of a growing Street Team or by selling merch at their shows, shoot me an email at thenadas@thenadas.com and let me know. I’m putting together a nice little list of prizes and treats for you dedicated people out there willing to give a little time and energy to The Nadas. Well, it’s time to rest up - hope the weather clears so we can try to get down on this big hill. In the meantime, get out to a show this week and have some fun for me. Be as good as you want.
Love & Classic Buses,
Dr Tyler & The Nadas

The Nadas head back out on the road
Is everyone relaxed, recovered, feeling better after having a few post-state fair days to eat salad and nap? I know I am - even with the three bee stings to the head. What? Yes, it’s true. The worst thing is I wasted a whole cocktail in my attempt to escape the attacking bees. The best part? I’m not allergic to the stinging insects. It was a bit traumatic, though; and as a fan of honey (a product that was being harvested as I was stung) it was a bit like being punched by your favorite ballplayer. I suppose I shouldn’t have been asking for autographs while they were working.
But where was I? Oh yes, The Nadas, the reason you signed up for this email. Well, The Nadas have two shows this weekend and I hope that you can come out and join us for at least one of them.
#1 - Friday, August 22: The Silver Dollar Cantina in Dubuque, IA. I haven’t been to Dubuque in a while but I’ve always managed to have a good time. I think it’s something about that river they have there. It’s one of the big ones.
#2 - Saturday, August 23: The Cab Lounge in Johnston, IA, So there was a lot of confusion about this show and it turns out that I should have just listened to all of you who emailed me insisting the show was in Johnston. You know why? Because you were right. The show is in Johnston at The Cab, NOT at the West Glen sister location. So . . . I humbly ask for your forgiveness.
Yes, those are the shows this weekend. But wait, there’s more.

She Swings, She Sways’ “Wasted Love Songs”
What else can there be? Our friends and fellow Authentic Records mates, She Swings She Sways will be returning to central Iowa this weekend. They’ve been gone for 44 days on a 25 city tour in support of their super cool record “Wasted Love Songs.” The first thing they’ll be doing upon their return? Opening for The Nadas at The Cab on Saturday night. (What, you thought they’d go home and sleep for a week?)
You’re in for a good time. They’ve been selling out of records on the road and they know how to put on a show. But we want you to be ready for that show, waiting to sing along with all of their new songs. So we thought that we would give you all a special chance to get to know them. That’s why this week only (today through Saturday), you can order “Wasted Love Songs” from our web site for only $10 AND no shipping. Go! Before it’s too late. Hurry!
Seriously, that’s a pretty cool deal. What have you got to lose?

The Nadas, Shawn Johnson, Lolo Jones, DRT and QOTW
So what do these things have in common? They are all from Iowa. It’s true. Plus they’re all pretty cool, especially the Question of the Week. Okay, sometimes the QOTW is stronger than others. I do what I can, people. It’s a lot of pressure.
But how about SJ and LJ? Are you diggin’ the Iowans and their raw athletic energy? Of course you are.
Speaking of which, I need to wrap things up so I can get the wood oven fired up and my Olympics Monitoring Center (OMC) all powered on. Hopefully I’ll see you at a show this weekend; assuming I can get down off this mountain and back to Iowa. Be as good as you want.
Love and Gold Medals,
Dr Tyler & The Nadas

From Iowa to the Bahamas: Nadas Weekly Blah Blah #81308

Corn Dogs and Cows, oh my!Three nights, six shows, 72 songs, and thousands of fans (happy ones, too, which is always a plus) - that was the 2008 Iowa State Fair experience for The Nadas. Thank you so much for coming out and making it a great party. I’ve been reliving it by watching the Iowa State Fair highlight show on IPTV. Oh they were there, recording the whole thing. It’s fun to catch some of the action that I missed the first time (or maybe, er, don’t remember). But we really couldn’t have asked for much more - the weather was perfect, the crowds were energetic, and the food was delicious. I’ve spent most of this week on a treadmill watching the Olympics and trying to make up for my extreme gluttonous intake; I don’t regret anything, though. Do you? Didn’t think so. Let’s do it again next year. And before I forget, our super cool 2008 Iowa State Fair shirts will be available at our online store very soon. They were extremely popular (way to go, LB) and we’ve had a lot of requests to make them available for a little while longer. So keep checking the website and get your chicken.Oh yeah, and we also have all of the 2008 ISF shows available for download. So, um, yeah, more reasons to visit the online store and drop some coin.I swear this is the last piece of Fair business. Ready? We want to see your pictures from the Iowa State Fair. Send them to thenadas@thenadas.com. We’ll put together a special online fair section so we can all relive the memories together.Okay, let’s move on.

Oo-ee, oo-ee, babyWon’t you let me take you on a sea cruise? It’s time once again for Nada ‘Nother Sea Cruise. We will be hosting a four day cruise leaving from Miami with a stop in Nassau, Bahamas then a day at sea and back to Miami. Besides a chance to escape the cold weather in January the cruise includes A Bon Voyage Cocktail Party, two Private Nadas concerts, an hilarious and informative question and answer session, plus all food and lodging! Check out all the details in the flyer and HERE for more information and to book your tickets. This has been a really great time in the past and we hope you can join us!

August Shows and QOTWYou have a little time to recover from the fair, Nadas Nation. We’ll be resting this weekend - some of us on vacation, others of us under heavy sedation. But we’ll be back for some great shows later in the month. Friday, August 22: Silver Dollar Cantina, Dubuque, IA. Saturday, August 23: The Cab, Johnston, IA. Sunday, August 24: AK O’Connor’s Beaverdale (Mike solo). Friday, August 29: The Riverfront Stadium, Waterloo, IA. Saturday, August 30: Bridgeview Center, Ottumwa, IA. Sunday, August 31: The Chesterfield, Sioux City, IA.So yeah, catch your breath this weekend and then head out for the home stretch of Summer. That’s all from me. I need to get back on the treadmill. Be as good as you want.Love and Rockin’ Chickens,Dr Tyler & The NadasQOTW: Speaking of the Olympics, what has been the coolest Olympic moment you’ve watched? And isn’t Shawn Johnson incredible?

The Nadas - Huge in Holland! A Dutch review.
August 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Probably a great review, I have no idea. Anyone speak Dutch? click here to goto the original site. (Jan Janssen)
