Hey friends! it’s, me, Mike!

Well it’s not looking too good for today but possibly tomorrow I will be able to get my pants buttoned back up. Thanks Mom and Kara for all the great grub this weekend.  I may try eating again sometime next week.  My surprise favorite dish this year: baked potato salad. Like potato salad you might enjoy at a July 4th picnic but not at all. It’s baked potatoes cut up in chunks with sour cream, bacon bits, and cheese. YUM. Anyway, moving on from the food topic as I am feeling a little queasy… (my brain is still telling my stomach to reject anything that gets close to my mouth)…

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday celebrations with friends and family. I would like to invite you to enjoy New Years Eve with me…and the fellas…at Hotel Pattee.  It promises to be a fun, intimate night of music and merriment.  (NOTE: Nada Enterprise, llc and its parent companies Ben and Jerry’s and NASA are not responsible for any promises made by blah blah writers) We have tickets left but not a ton.  You can get yours via Tikly right now at the following link:

http://tikly.co/nadasnewyear12.html

In other news we may or may not be going to New York City to play the post pep rally party provided by people for the promotion of Iowa State University.  More on that to come.  PS I made up the name of the event. (PPRPPPPISU is not responsible for names named in any blah blah or other publication by its parent newsletter The New England Journal of Medicine)

Please button up those pants and join us this Saturday to ring in the New Year!

Love and 2012,

The Nadas

Hello Friends – Jason here. Bringing you your highly anticipated weekly blah blah. I’m sorry to say I don’t have a lot of Nadas shows to report at this time. We always take it easy as the weather turns cold. We keep our band shows, large and few and far between. We make ‘em count if we haul all that gear out in the blustery wind and we take into consideration that you have to do the same. That being said, we have a couple of big ones to tell you about.

The first is our 9th Annual Nada Silent Night at Hoyt Sherman Auditorium on Friday December 2nd. I’ll let Mike give you some more enticing details next week, but if you have been to any of the previous eight years, then you know what a cool event it is. You can get your tickets here.

Secondly – We know many of you are making your New Years Eve plans already. We will be taking over the Hotel Pattee in Perry, Iowa. There are a few rooms left if you want to spend the night, or there is always the Super 8 option just a hop skip and a jump away from the Hotel Pattee. We have a fun night planned with, food, drinks, and of course music planned in a very cool location. It is not far from Des Moines. For more info, check out the event via Tikly.

DVD SALE! So . . . since we aren’t playing much for a couple of weeks, we decided we would make a screaming deal on our DVDs for those of you who need to see our smiling faces while listening to our music.  We have 2 full length DVDs that we have released. “Decade of Nada”, which is a full band show filmed at the legendary People’s Bar and Grill in Ames and “Planetarium” which was an acoustic “storytellers” styled show we did in the planetarium in the Des Moines Science Center. We think you all should have a copy, so we are going to give you both titles for 10 bucks and free shipping. That’s right… you heard me. An offer you can’t refuse. Get your DVDs here.

Love and wheelin and dealin,

The Nadas

QOTW – What was the last deal you couldn’t refuse?

Hey y’all – Happy No Shave November. Welcome to this week’s Blah Blah. Jason here. I have to admit I have around a one month jump on my facial hair growth, but it does feel good to be justified in my disheveled scruffiness.  I will be cultivating my beard until mustache March. I encourage you to do the same and feel free to share your progress with me. Let’s work together. This week we are headed west to the Rockies (where facial hair is always “in”) for two shows. Friday night at the Bluebird Theater for the adults and one Saturday in Golden for the kids. Tickets for both shows are available via Tikly! Get your tickets in advance here: http://tikly.co/the-nadas-at-the-bluebird-theater.html & here: http://tikly.co/bebt-acousticalley.html . The band is headed home Saturday after the kids show, but I am sticking around for hopefully two solo shows. I was booked at the Ghost Ranch on Saturday night, but I was informed yesterday that the Ghost Ranch is temporarily closing its doors, so I am currently scrambling to find another place to play in Colorado on Saturday night. If you have any ideas, or a living room, email me at Jason@thenadas.com. Sunday night I am returning to Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale Colorado. Learn more about Steve’s Guitars here: http://www.stevesguitars.net/

For those of you following my side project “The Lamplighters”. http://www.facebook.com/TheLamplightersBand We are playing our November show at the Gas Lamp in Des Moines this Wednesday November 2nd.  In general, we are trying to start our lamplighters shows fairly early on Wednesdays, however this week we will be starting a bit later. Our friend William Elliott Whitmore is playing at Peoples earlier in the night so we are going to bill our show as the unofficial official after-party. Whether you make it to the WEW or not we are hoping you can join us at the Gas Lamp.

I just realized it may have seemed like I left the ladies out in my No Shave November banter at the beginning of my message. Sorry girls. I encourage you to embrace the same freedom. Go for it!

Love and Stubble,

The Nadas

Hey Nadas fans, Mike here.

This fall’s Rock the Rails tour is all done, like a caboose receding down the tracks into the sunset with Jason and I left on the platform alternately waving our handkerchiefs and using them to blot the tears from our eyes. A huge thanks to all of our hosts and hostesses along with Jessica from the Greater Des Moines Partnership who not only rode along, but also made all the travel plans.

This just in: We are doing it again!

I would like to once again recommend train travel to y’all. It is delightful in every way. Can’t wait till next year’s tour to explore some more.

This weekend we have a two shows in Des Moines—We are playing at Reggie’s Sleepout on Saturday. Held at the Drake Stadium, this event is an incredible opportunity to raise awareness for homeless youth. The show is free and open to all ages. We play at 3 pm.

Later on in the day, we will be playing at the Iowa Health Systems and YMCA Healthy Halloween in Waukee. This show will be a fun, Bright Eyed & Bushy Tailed kids show at 7:30 pm. It’s free to get in so bring the kids you know and we’ll see you at the Waukee YMCA!

Next weekend we are back on the road to Colorado. On November 4, we are playing at the beautiful Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO. Tickets are available via Tikly! http://tikly.co/the-nadas-at-the-bluebird-theater.html Be sure to buy ahead, truly save some money, and we’ll see you in Denver! The next morning, we are having a Bright Eyed & Bushy Tailed CD party at the Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden, CO. Tickets are $10.00 each, children 2 and under get in free. Those tickets are also available via Tikly. http://tikly.co/bebt-acousticalley.html

If you want more Nada and live in Colorado, we are leaving Jason there for a couple solo shows in both Steamboat and Aspen. More details to come.

Love and Halloween candy,

The Nadas
